Who Are we?
We are a training school for people who would like to work on board a luxury yacht as well as people already in the industry who would like to improve their knowledge and skills. We offer introductory as well as experienced courses. And intend to achieve our international accreditation within the month.
Partnering with South African yachties who are taking their next step in providing crew and potential crew with the best service possible.
We are also pioneering the first course to offer graduates the opportunity of an internship to gain real onboard experience in Europe to selected students.
Principal trainer Lauren Norton
Lauren started her career in the Yachting Industry in 2004 when she joined a 43m Charter yacht as a junior stewardess. Where she spent 2 seasons.
She was then offered the position of 2ndstewardess on board a 58m New Build in Holland. This position allowed her to discover her love of working exclusively for a private family, anticipating their needs and delivering the high standard of service that they expected. With no pervious formal training, she took it upon herself to learn as much as she could about every aspect of her job to better improve her skills. This included studying Wine, silver service, laundry care, sewing and care for delicate surfaces and training as a Butler in the British Style.
After one year as 2ndStewardess onboard she was promoted to Chief Stewardess. Her role expanded to encompass not only training and leading the on-board staff but also setting up and training the staff for a private villa in Italy and later in 2012 a private villa in the Seychelles.
During this time Lauren’s principal commissioned the build of a 100m yacht. It would be the biggest produced by luxury yacht builders Feadship in the Netherlands. Lauren was tasked with overseeing the interior build and launch. In 2013 the yacht launched and won several international yachting awards among them the coveted “Motor yacht of the year” Neptune.
After 11 and a half years in the Industry, 4 Atlantic crossings and travelling all around the Mediterranean, Lauren retired to start a family and move land based. She has been working in recruitment for luxury yachts since 2015 as well as training for the British Butler’s Institute around the world. Recently joining the South African Yachties family she is following her dream of opening her own training school to share her knowledge and skill to raise the bar in stewardess training.
